Birdwatching Tours, Birding Daytrips, and Birding Stays in Goa.

Avocet & Peregrine is a hardcore birding company located in Goa, India.

Goa is less than a dot on the map of the world. Yet it hosts almost 4% of the bird species of the world. Surprising, because of a limited geographical spread and yet because of a diverse range of ecosystems ranging from coastal, mangrove, estuarine, grassland, wetland and the unique Western Ghats complex. The species counts goes to almost 500 including 17 species endemic or near-endemic to the region. Key birds include the Malabar Trogon, Malabar Parakeet, Malabar Grey and Malabar Pied Hornbills, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Vigor’s Sunbird, Orange Minivet, Lesser Adjutant Storks, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, Brown-backed Needletail, Oriental Bay Owl, Red Spurfowl, Mountain Imperial Pigeons, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Grey-headed Bulbul, Square tailed Bulbul, Wynaad Laughingthrush, White-bellied Woodpecker, White-bellied Blue-flycatcher, White-bellied Treepie, eight kingfisher species including Collared, Oriental Dwarf, and Blue-eared and a host of shorebirds.

We conduct guided birding day trips and birding stays while you bird in Goa (India) ranging from a leisurely lazy pace to almost a drop-dead marathon birding! This was my first birding trip and my first birding trip with Savio and I cannot begin to articulate how surreal it was. Savio is a bird ranger in its simplest description and his dedication and sincerety towards his profession and passion is admirable. We spotted many birds and he was also constantly guiding me with the terms, their names and the bilogical information of the birds and their calls. Savio also guided me very well with the photography technicalities.Would definitely recommend Avocet and Peregrine to anyone who is serious about birding and/or photography. Definitely a MUST. Kudos to Savio and his dedication.

Savio led us through a really enjoyable, educational and pristine birding experience. Our family, including very small children, had a great experience on the Zuari River, catching sights of crocodiles, kingfishers, egrets, herons, and many more species. The tour boat staff were kind and expert birders themselves. Thankful to have had Savio introduce us to the rich biodiversity of Goa and enable us to identify some magnificent birds. He is a super professional tour guide, and an important advocate for preserving the beautiful birds of the state. Thanks, Savio!

I loved it! Mr Savio showed me many birds, most of which I would have missed. He took me to Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary where we both took photos. We had to cut the trip short after only 3 hours but we saw stunning 62 species, including a Gray-headed Bulbul, two Blue-faced Malkohas, a Emerald Dove, and a Barred Buttonquail.Mr Savio is also an amazing photographer and when my SD card ran out of space he loaned me his.Overall I had a great experience and would recommend you to book him whether you are an amateur or a professional, under 18 (like me) or over, Mr.Savio is perfect.

This was our second trip with Savio from Avocet & Peregrine and this time we to went to Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. We were once again thoroughly impressed with the knowledge and expertise of Savio, not to mention his infectious enthusiam! There were an astonishing 77 different species seen on our trip of roughly seven hours. Highlights included a close-up of a crested serpent eagle, spot-breasted fantail, Indian paradise flycatcher and the amazing black-backed kingfisher (this is the bird that is on the cover of Birds of Goa, the book co-authored by Savio and Bikram Grewal), all accompanied by stunning scenery.Within a day Savio produced an excellent report of the trip, including the names of all the different species seen and many of his own pictures, taken at the time. This is an excellent memory and proved very useful in identifying the birds in our own photos. In summary this was a really fun trip and a great deal. We can't wait for the next one!Jon and Penny D'Souza-EvaOxford, England

Awesome experience. Savio is himself very passionate about wildlife and birding. It helped a great deal to go alongside him. His knowledge about birds, their habitat, and best birding hotspots inGoa helped me greatly. We could spot almost 60 bird species including some rarities within short span of few hours.
